Allium caesium, also known as light blue garlic, is a perennial flowering plant found in central Asia. It can be found in deserts and dry fields at elevations of 700-2,000 meters. This plant typically grows to be 30-40 cm tall and prefers full sun to partial shade. It produces round bulbs and has scapes that can reach up to 65 cm tall. The leaves are round and slightly shorter than the scapes. The flowers are a beautiful sky-blue color and bloom in the summer, attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies. The name caesium comes from the Latin word for "grey-blue". This plant has received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit in the UK and is suitable for hardiness zones 4-7 in the US.
