Chervil is a delicate annual herb related to parsley, commonly used to season mild-flavoured dishes and a key ingredient in the French herb mixture fines herbes. It is native to the Caucasus but has been spread throughout Europe by the Romans. In the culinary world, it is used to season poultry, seafood, vegetables, soups, and sauces, and is known for its delicate taste of liquorice or aniseed. Chervil is also used in folk medicine for various purposes and has been linked to "strimmer dermatitis". It can be difficult to transplant and prefers a cool and moist environment. Regular harvesting of leaves can prevent the plant from bolting.

Germination/Propagation Top
Suggest a correction or add new data!Sow seeds at 20°C, expecting germination within 3 months without further temperature treatment. |
Resents Transplanting: These plants do not tolerate the disturbance of their roots well. It's best to sow these seeds in their final growing location or in a container from which they can be moved without disturbing the root ball. |
Requires Light or Surface Sowing: These seeds need light to germinate and should not be covered with soil or only very lightly. They are often very small and sown directly on the surface of the growing medium. |
