Marsilea quadrifolia is a herbaceous plant found naturally in many parts of the world. It is known by many names, including four leaf clover, European waterclover, and sushni. It has been used as food for over 3000 years and is said to have anti-inflammatory, diuretic, depurative, febrifuge, and refrigerant properties. It can be grown as a potted plant, either just with soil kept wet, or semi-submerged, with fronds emergent from the water, or fully submerged, with the fronds floating on the surface of the water. It is also used in aquariums, and is very easy to germinate from its sporocarps.
