Bolbitis appendiculata is a lithophyte plant that belongs to the Dryopteridaceae family and is commonly found in evergreen forests. It is native to various countries in Asia, including India, Sri Lanka, and Japan. The plant has two types of fronds, with one being scaly and hairy and the other being narrower and covered in dark brown to black sporangia. The sterile fronds are dark green and have a simple pinnate structure, while the fertile fronds are elliptic and have an unequal base. This plant is known for its acrostichoid sporangia, which cover most of the underside of its leaves.
