Polystichum drepanum, also known as Madeira shield-fern, is a fern species belonging to the Dryopteridaceae family. It is found in its native habitat of subtropical moist lowland forests in Madeira. However, it is currently facing threats due to habitat loss. The species was first described by Olof Swartz in 1801 as Aspidium drepanum and later moved to the Polystichum genus by Carl Borivoj Presl in 1836.
