Cystopteris fragilis is a species of fern found worldwide in shady, moist areas. It has leaves up to 30-40 centimeters long, with many pairs of leaflets which are further divided into lobed segments. The underside of the leaf has many rounded sori containing the sporangia. Commonly known as brittle bladder-fern or common fragile fern, it is a hardy species that can survive in a variety of climates.
