Parablechnum wattsii, also known as Blechnum wattsii, is a common fern found in rainforests and open forests in southeastern Australia. It is named after William Walter Watts, an expert on mosses and ferns, and has several common names including hard water fern, leech fern, hard hill fern, and red cabbage fern. This fern can grow up to 125 cm tall and has distinctive dimorphic fertile and sterile fronds. It reproduces through spores and can also be propagated through division or injury of the rhizome. P. wattsii is found in various habitats and is used for ornamental purposes as well as a food source by Aboriginal Australians.
