Diplazium australe, also known as the Austral lady fern, is a small fern found in eastern Australia, New Zealand, and Norfolk Island. It prefers moist, shaded areas and is commonly found in rainforests. This fern belongs to the thyme family and has approximately 350-400 species, with the majority found in subtropical and neotropical regions. Its distribution is believed to have originated in Eurasia and has since spread to other regions. Diplazium australe reproduces through spores and has a life cycle that includes both diploid and haploid stages. It has a unique vascular system and its leaves are divided into two types: trophophyll and sporophyll. This fern has both economic and aesthetic value, but can also be considered a weed in certain industries.
