Gleichenia rupestris is a small fern found in eastern Australia, known as one of the coral ferns. Its name refers to its tendency to grow near rocks. This common plant can be found in various environments such as under waterfalls, in swamps, and in tall open forests. It thrives in high humidity and requires ample sunlight and moisture. While it is often found growing alongside other ferns like Gleichenia dicarpa and Gleichenia microphylla, it can be distinguished by its smooth and glossy stem. This plant was first documented in 1810 by Robert Brown in the Prodromus Florae Novae Hollandiae.
