Dicksonia arborescens, also known as the Saint Helena tree fern, is a species of tree fern native to the island of Saint Helena. It is the type species of the genus Dicksonia and is an important component of the native vegetation of the island. It is closely related to Dicksonia berteriana, native to the Juan Fernández Islands west of Chile. The species was first described by L'Héritier in 1789 from cultivated specimens he saw while living in London. It is a major component of the "tree fern thicket" vegetation of the highest parts of the central ridge of the island, and acts as a nursery for the native flora.
