Alsophila fenicis, also known as Cyathea fenicis, is a tree fern species found in the Philippines, Taiwan, and Orchid Island. It grows in wet forest areas, on forest margins, and hillsides. The trunk can reach up to 1 meter in height and 6 cm in diameter. Its fronds are tripinnate and can grow up to 2 meters long. The stipe, or stem, is spiny and can vary in color from brown to purple-dark brown. This species is characterized by its reduced lower pinnae. It has two types of scales, long dark brown ones and minute brown ones, with occasional pale scales. The sori, or spore-producing structures, are round and arranged in two rows on either side of the pinnule midvein. They are covered by small indusia that resemble scales. Cyathea fujiiana is a synonym for this species, with the type material collected on Orchid Island in 1924. Alsophila fenicis Posth. is also a synonym, known as Sphaeropteris elmeri.
