Alsophila cuspidata, also known as Cyathea cuspidata, is a widespread tree fern found in Central and South America. It can be found in tropical rainforests, as well as open areas, riverbanks, and cleared pastureland up to an altitude of 800 meters. Its natural range includes countries such as Mexico, Guatemala, Brazil, and French Guiana. This species typically has multiple trunks and can reach heights of 15 meters. Its fronds are bipinnate and can grow up to 3 meters long. The fern is covered in black spines and has a feathery appearance. In cultivation, it requires high humidity and warm temperatures, and should be protected from frost.
