Pinus strobiformis, also known as southwestern white pine, Mexican white pine, or Chihuahua white pine, is a medium-sized tree found in the southwestern United States and Mexico. It is typically found in high-elevation areas mixed with other conifers. The tree has a straight, slender trunk and smooth, silvery-gray bark when young, aging to furrowed and red-brown or dark gray-brown. Its branches are spreading and ascending, with slender, pale red-brown twigs. The leaves are dark green to blue-green and grow in bundles of five, sometimes four, with a deciduous sheath. The cones are very large and have a unique shape, with large seeds dispersed by birds. The tree is drought tolerant and often grows in association with Pinus hartwegii. It can be found in mountainous areas in Arizona, southwest Colorado, New Mexico, and western Texas, as well as in the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains in northern Mexico. It is often found growing with other conifers such as limber pine, ponderosa pine, and blue spruce. The tree has various uses, including as a Christmas tree, windbreak tree, and ornamental tree. It is also used in cabinet making, but
