Pinus amamiana, also known as Amami pine or Yakushima white pine, is a species of pine tree native to southern Japan. It can be found on the islands of Yakushima and Tanegashima, as well as in Japanese parks where it has been cultivated. This tree can reach heights of up to 25 meters and has a trunk diameter of 1 meter. Its needles grow in bundles of five and its cones are 5-8 cm in length. In Japanese, it is referred to as amami-goyōmatsu, amami-goyō, and yakutane-goyō.
