Abies densa, also known as the Bhutan fir, is a type of conifer found in Bhutan, China, India, and Nepal. It is closely related to the East Himalayan fir and is often considered a variety of it. This species is not considered to be threatened by the IUCN. It is commonly known as the Himalayan alpine fir and is a dominant tree in the upper coniferous belt of the central and eastern Himalayas. It can reach heights of up to 30-40 meters and has a trunk diameter of 2.5 meters. The bark is thick and angular, while the branchlets are light grayish-yellow when young and turn grayish-brown as they mature. The needles are up to 4.5 cm long and have slightly recurved margins. The cones are bluish-gray or dark blue to bluish-brown and can reach lengths of up to 10 cm. They have varying bract lengths, with some individuals having slightly protruding or curved tips. While it is often grouped with the Abies spectabilis, a species found in western regions, Abies densa differs in several ways, such as having shorter, narrower, and slightly recurved leaves that are less silvery-white
