Ephedra pedunculata, also known as Clap-weed, vine Mormon tea or Comida de Vívora, is a plant species found in southern Texas and parts of Mexico. Unlike most species of Ephedra, which are shrubs, this plant is a trailing or climbing vine that can reach up to 7 meters in length. Its bark is gray and becomes cracked as it ages, and its leaves are small and opposite each other. This plant produces larger pollen-producing cones (1-2 mm) and seed cones (6-10 mm) compared to other species. The seed cones contain 2 ellipsoid seeds (4-10 mm) each. Ephedra pedunculata grows in sandy or rocky slopes and outcrops, making it a hardy and adaptable plant.
