It is a medium-sized tree, growing up to 15 m tall. The leaves are spirally arranged, linear, 2–4 cm long and 1–2 mm broad. The cones are highly modified, with a single, fleshy, berry-like cone 1–2 cm long, green at first, ripening yellow to orange.
