Podocarpus novoguineensis is a conifer species that is found exclusively in New Guinea. It is an evergreen tree that can reach heights of up to 25 meters. This species is part of the P. neriifolius group and is distinguished by its large leaves, which are the largest in this group. The leaves are long, pendulous, and linear, with weak upper midribs and long outer bud scales. This species is not very common and is typically found in hill and montane forests at elevations ranging from 510 to 1,800 meters. It was officially described as a distinct species by David de Laubenfels in 2015, although it was previously misidentified as P. neriifolius.
