Podocarpus magnifolius is a type of conifer that belongs to the Podocarpaceae family. It is native to several countries in South America, including Bolivia, Colombia, Peru, Panama, and Venezuela. These trees can grow up to 30 meters tall and have dark brown bark. Their leaves are elliptic to oblong in shape, ranging from 3 to 29 cm in length and 1.2 to 3 cm in width. The male cones are axillary, solitary, and up to 5 cm long. The ovules are located on a 1.2 cm long receptacle at the end of a 1-2 cm long peduncle. The seeds are ovoid and bright red, measuring 1 cm in length. This species is typically found in montane and cloud forests at elevations ranging from 850 to 2900 meters.
