Falcatifolium taxoides is a unique conifer species that is native to New Caledonia. It belongs to the Podocarpaceae family and is the only known host of its non-photosynthetic relative, Parasitaxus usta. The name Falcatifolium comes from its sickle-shaped leaves, while taxoides refers to its resemblance to the yew tree. This species is a fascinating example of the diversity and complexity found in the plant world.
