Sphaerocarpos muccilloi is a species of liverwort that grows in pale green mats. It is a dioecious species, meaning individual plants have either male or female reproductive organs. The female plants are circular in shape and have lobes with rhizoids on their undersides, while the male plants are oval-shaped and purple in color. The species is closely related to other Sphaerocarpos species but can be distinguished by its spore color and separation at maturity. It was first recognized as a distinct species in 1981 and is only found in a few locations in Brazil, with its presence in some areas uncertain due to human habitation. It is typically found in areas of light shade on damp soil, often among petrified wood and hornworts.
