Petalophyllum ralfsii, also known as the petalwort, is a small green bryophyte found in the Mediterranean region and along the Atlantic coast of Europe. It grows primarily on moist sand dunes and has a thallose structure, meaning it is not differentiated into root, stem, and leaf. This liverwort has a specific habitat requirement and is typically found in dune slacks with open, damp conditions. It is most commonly found in Scotland, but also occurs in other locations in the British Isles. Due to threats to its habitat, it is considered a vulnerable species. Petalophyllum ralfsii is often found growing alongside other plants such as mosses, grasses, and sedges.
