Subclass Timmiidae in Class Bryopsida

In botanical taxonomy, the Subclass rank is a level of classification used to further divide a Class into smaller, more closely related groups of plants. It is ranked below Class and above Order in the hierarchy of taxonomic ranks.
Subclasses are used to group together orders of plants that share certain characteristics and are more closely related to one another than to orders in other subclasses within the same Class.
Subclasses are further divided into smaller taxonomic ranks such as Orders, Families, Genera, and Species, based on their shared characteristics and evolutionary relationships. Botanists use these classifications to study and better understand the relationships between different groups of plants.
