Costus pulverulentus, also known as the red cigar or spiral ginger, is a flowering plant found in Mexico, Central America, Colombia, Venezuela, and Ecuador. It has also been introduced to Cuba. This rhizomatous perennial can grow up to 4 to 6 feet and is commonly found in wet tropical regions. It is often used as an ornamental plant and there are different cultivars available, such as 'Serena', 'Pink Lips', and 'Purple Passion'.
