Lycium brevipes, also known as Baja desert-thorn, is a flowering plant in the nightshade family. It is native to northwestern Mexico and can also be found in California, specifically in the Sonoran Desert and some of the Channel Islands. This plant grows in desert and coastal scrub and is commonly used in southwestern landscaping. It is a bushy shrub with thorny branches that can reach up to 4 meters in height. The branches are covered in small, fleshy green leaves and glandular hairs. The flowers are tubular and range from lavender to white in color, with 2 to 6 lobes at the mouth. The fruit is a bright red berry that is about 1cm wide and contains many seeds, making it attractive to birds.
