Browallia speciosa is a tender perennial flower, usually grown as an annual, that is commonly used as a garden ornamental. It is also known as the amethyst flower or bush violet. In Colombia, the Ingano of Mocoa chew the leaves of Browallia speciosa and use it as a remedy for fever, malaria, and dysentery, as well as packing it around carious molars to alleviate pain.
