Ipomoea sagittifolia, also known as morning glory, is a plant species found in Africa, India, the Malay Archipelago, and Australia. Although it was previously believed to also exist in Taiwan, this has been proven to be incorrect. The plant is known for its medicinal properties and is used in traditional Indian medicine due to the presence of indole alkaloids, specifically ipobscurine A, B, and C, in its seeds. These alkaloids have been found to have various health benefits.
