Cuscuta epithymum, commonly known as dodder, lesser dodder, hellweed, and strangle-tare, is a parasitic plant belonging to the family Cuscutaceae or Convolvulaceae. It is red-pigmented and has a filiform habit, with small leaves and white flowers. In Eurasia, it is often found attached to the Conehead thyme plant and was used in medieval times as a medicinal cure for depression. However, it can cause thirst and dryness of the mouth when consumed.
