Convolvulus prostratus, also known as Convolvulus pluricaulis, is an herb commonly used in Ayurveda, a traditional Indian medicine. It is often referred to as shankapushpi and is believed to have a wide range of benefits, including improving brain function and reducing anxiety and obsessive behaviors. Some sources suggest that shankapushpi is the same as Clitoria ternatea, another herb used in Ayurveda. Studies have shown that shankapushpi may have potential as an anxiolytic, relaxant, and nootropic, and has been found to significantly improve memory retention. It has also been observed to have cholesterol-lowering and thyroid-suppressing effects in animal studies. While it has been studied as a potential anticonvulsant, the results have been mixed.
