Astilbe japonica, also known as false buck's beard, is a flowering plant native to Japan and introduced in New York State. It belongs to the Astilbe genus and has gained recognition for its hybrid cultivars 'Deutschland', 'Montgomery', and 'Rheinland', which have been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
