Hamamelis ovalis, also known as the big-leaf witch-hazel, is a type of shrub that is commonly found in the southeastern region of the United States. It was first identified in 2004 and officially described in 2005. The leaves of this plant resemble those of the hazelnut tree and its flowers can vary in color from red to maroon. These flowers typically bloom from December to February. Hamamelis ovalis is one of three species of witch-hazel that can be found in North America.
