Pachyphytum bracteosum is a perennial succulent native to Mexico, occurring on rocks at altitudes between 1,200–1,800 m (3,900–5,900 ft). It has a diploid number of 66 or 132 and is closely related to Pachyphytum oviferum and Pachyphytum longifolium. It has a leafy stem that grows up to 30 cm (12 in) long and 25–38 mm (0.98–1.50 in) thick, with purplish or bluish green leaves that are thick and flattened. The peduncles grow upwards of 30 cm (12 in) long and the flowering stem is curved at the apex and is secund. The numerous bracts are arranged in two imbricated rows and have short pedicels. The dark red corolla has five spreading lobes and is about 5.1 mm (0.20 in) long. The plant flowers in the summer.
