Kalanchoe beharensis, also known as elephant's ear kalanchoe, is a succulent plant native to Madagascar. It is an evergreen shrub with olive green leaves that are triangular-lanceolate in shape and covered in woolly hairs. The plant produces small yellowish flowers in the spring and summer. Kalanchoe beharensis has a unique defense system that deters herbivores before any damage is done to the plant. It also uses a type of carbon fixation called crassulacean acid metabolism, which allows it to survive in arid conditions. This plant can be grown as a houseplant or outdoors in frost-free areas. It is easy to propagate through seeds, stem cuttings, or leaf cuttings. Kalanchoe beharensis has been recognized by the Royal Horticultural Society for its beauty and resilience.
