Dudleya variegata, also known as variegated liveforever or variegated dudleya, is a deciduous succulent plant in the Crassulaceae family. It is native to Baja California and San Diego County in California, where it grows in various habitats such as chaparral and vernal pools. This plant has small, deciduous leaves and a corm-like stem that allows it to survive the dry season by utilizing starch reserves. It produces yellow star-shaped flowers in the spring and is able to survive without water until the fall. Dudleya variegata is closely related to other geophytic plants in the subgenus Hasseanthus, and has been known to hybridize with other members of the Dudleya genus. However, its populations have been significantly impacted by urban development and recreational activity.
