Zanthoxylum molle, also known as Chinese pepper, is a deciduous tree from the Rutaceae family. It can grow up to 10 meters tall and has brown and black bark, with sharp spikes on its stems. The leaves are oval or elliptical in shape and covered in white or yellow-gray hairs. The tree produces small white flowers and round fruits, which are used in traditional Chinese medicine. Z. molle is native to South China and is commonly found in dry forests or bushes in hilly areas. Its bark is used for medicinal purposes, and the leaves and fruits contain volatile oil. The tree blooms from June to August and fruits from October to November.
