Chloroxylon swietenia, also known as Ceylon satinwood or East Indian satinwood, is a tropical hardwood found in southern India, Sri Lanka, and Madagascar. It is the only species in the Chloroxylon genus and is known for its green wood. Along with Zanthoxylum flavum, the West Indian satinwood, it is considered the original satinwood. The wood of this tree is highly valued for its use in veneers, inlays, and fine furniture. However, due to overexploitation, its population has declined and it is now considered a conservation concern.
