Asterolasia rupestris is a unique shrub species found only in New South Wales. It has heart-shaped to triangular leaves covered in star-shaped hairs and yellow flowers with rust-colored hairs on the back. It typically grows to a height of 1.5 meters and flowers in the spring. This species was first described in 2002 and has two subspecies, one with downward-turned leaves and the other with flat leaves. It is found in gullies in low forest and has been recorded on Mount Kaputar and Mount Canobolas.
