Acronychia octandra, also known as doughwood, silver birch or soapwood, is a rainforest tree native to eastern coastal regions of Australia. It can reach heights of up to 27 meters and has trifoliate leaves with narrow elliptical or egg-shaped leaflets. The tree produces greenish-white flowers in panicles and fleshy fruit with four fused carpels. It was first described in 1860 and has since been classified as Acronychia octandra. It is found in subtropical and warm-temperate habitats up to 900 meters in elevation. The seeds of this tree can germinate quickly, with some sprouting as early as 11 days after planting.
