Searsia batophylla, also known as the bramble currant, is a localized shrub native to the vicinities of Steelpoort and Burgersfort in Limpopo, South Africa. It is an evergreen, drought resistant plant that grows in the rain shadow of the Limpopo Drakensberg. Unfortunately, its natural range has been drastically reduced due to mining, human settlements and overgrazing, leaving only 30% of its former population and range.
