Exocarpos strictus, also known as pale-fruit ballart, pale ballart, or dwarf cherry, is a versatile shrub native to parts of Australia, including Tasmania. It was first described by botanist Robert Brown in 1810. The branches of this shrub are typically fine and vertical, but can occasionally become stout or long. The leaves are small and linear, ranging in color from light green to bluish-green. The flowers grow in clusters of 2-6 and have 4 or 5 triangular tepals. They bloom all year round. The fruit of E. strictus resembles small cherries and can be green, purple, or black in color. This shrub is commonly found in a variety of habitats, from heathland to open forests. It is widespread in Victoria, South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales, Tasmania, and the Australian Capital Territory.
