Exocarpos humifusus, also known as mountain native-cherry, is a small shrub that belongs to the Santalaceae family and is a hemiparasite. It has woody stems and small dry fruits that grow on a fleshy red stalk, giving it its common name. This shrub is found in Tasmania and is characterized by its rigid, woody branches that spread over the ground and rocks. Its leaves are triangular and scale-shaped, and its flowers are small and grow in bunches of 2-3. The fruit is a small greenish-black drupe or nut that is edible and attracts animals as distributors. Exocarpos humifusus is endemic to Tasmania and is commonly found in sub-alpine and alpine areas, growing on mountain plateaus and summits. It is a widespread plant in alpine heath and fjaeldmark communities.
