Decaisnina hollrungii is a unique flowering plant belonging to the Loranthaceae family, found in various regions such as New Guinea, Queensland, Australia, and the Bismarck Archipelago and the Solomon Islands. It is an epiphytic hemiparasitic plant that grows on other plants for support and nutrients. In Queensland, it is commonly found in rainforests and coastal scrub, and can grow on a wide range of host plants. This plant was first described in 1889 by Karl Moritz Schumann as Loranthus hollrungii, but was later reassigned to the genus Decaisnina by Bryan Alwyn Barlow in 1966. The genus name honors the French botanist Joseph Decaisne, while the specific epithet is named after the botanist Udo Max Hollrung.
