Rubus thibetanus, also known as ghost bramble, is a deciduous shrub native to western China. It is commonly referred to as Tibetan dewberry in English and xu zang xuan gou zi in Chinese. This plant can be found in Gansu, Shaanxi, Sichuan, and Tibet at altitudes of 900-2100 meters. It typically grows to be 2-3 meters tall and has reddish-brown branchlets with sparse prickles. The leaves are pinnately compound and have a fern-like appearance. In June, white flowers bloom and are followed by purplish-black or dark red inedible berries in August. Rubus thibetanus has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit in the UK.
