Rubus pubescens, also known as dwarf red blackberry, dwarf red raspberry, or dewberry, is a herbaceous perennial plant found in Canada and the northern United States. It has trailing stems and compound leaves with three leaflets. The flowers have five white petals and produce a single shiny red fruit in early July. Dewberry is commonly found in moist conifer or mixed-wood forests and is an important food source for various mammals and birds. It is also used in traditional medicine and can be eaten fresh or used in recipes. However, it is listed as threatened in Illinois due to human habitat destruction and its natural rarity.
