Rubus plicatifolius, also known as the North American dewberry, is a type of shrub in the rose family. It can be found in eastern and central parts of Canada and the United States. This species has a unique growth pattern, with prostrate stems that trail along the ground and straight prickles. Its leaves are made up of 5 egg-shaped leaflets that are yellowish in color and have a plaited appearance. The flowers of this plant grow in elongated groups and its fruits are cylindrical in shape. Due to the complex genetics of the Rubus genus, it is challenging to determine which groups should be classified as separate species. There are many rare species like Rubus plicatifolius that have limited ranges, and further research is needed to better understand their taxonomy.
