Rubus leucodermis, also known as whitebark raspberry or blackcap raspberry, is a deciduous shrub native to western North America. It grows up to 8 feet tall and has prickly shoots. The plant has biennial canes, with the first year's growth being vegetative and the second year's growth producing flowers and fruit before dying. The leaves are pinnate with five leaflets in the first year and three leaflets on flowering branches. The fruit is small and red, turning dark purple when ripe. It is edible and contains high levels of anthocyanins and ellagic acid. This species is similar to the eastern black raspberry and can be found from Alaska to Chihuahua, Mexico. It forms natural hybrids with other species in its subgenus. The name "leucodermis" refers to the white appearance of the stems due to a waxy coating.
