Rosa acicularis, also known as the prickly wild rose, is a flowering plant found in northern regions of Asia, Europe, and North America. It is a deciduous shrub with pinnate leaves and pink flowers that produce red, pear-shaped hips. This species is variable in ploidy, with different populations being tetraploid, hexaploid, or octoploid. In North America, it is the provincial flower of Alberta and is commonly found in thickets, stream banks, and wooded hillsides. The plant has various uses, including making tea and perfume, and its hips are high in vitamins A and C.
