Potentilla villosa, also known as villous cinquefoil, northern cinquefoil, or hairy cinquefoil, is a flowering plant in the rose family that is native to northwestern North America and has also been recorded in eastern Asia. It can be found in coastal areas such as bluffs, beaches, meadows, tundra, and alpine talus. This rhizomatous perennial herb has hairy to woolly stems and thick, leathery basal leaves that are divided into three veiny, toothed leaflets. The inflorescence produces one to five yellow flowers with orange basal spots and 20 stamens. Flowering occurs from July to September and the fruit is an achene.
