Common products:
Edible ripe fruits are used to make jam, jelly, syrup, sauce, and occasionally infused beverages or cordials. The fruits are hand-harvested when soft and fully colored and processed similarly to small stone fruits.

Food and beverages (non-medicinal):
- Fruit: eaten fresh or processed into jams, jellies, sauces, syrups; rarely fermented or made into cordials. Ripe fruits are aromatic with sweet–tart flavor. Reported high pectin content aids jam and jelly setting.
- Flavoring and additive: dried fruit or concentrated extracts can be used as flavoring in food applications.
- Availability: local/regional supply from wild harvesting; commercial-scale production is limited.

Properties relevant to use:
- Flesh characteristics: fleshy drupe; reported high pectin有助于果胶制品黏稠形成。Note: pectin is a soluble fiber used for setting jams, but no health claims are made here.

Sustainability and sourcing:
- Harvesting: wild-harvested from Pacific Northwest forests; minimal processing required.
- Regeneration: small multi-stemmed shrub; post-harvest regeneration depends on sustainable picking and habitat protection.
- Supply constraints: species abundance varies; demand can lead to overharvesting of high-value stands; local regulations and foraging best practices are important.
