Cotoneaster pannosus, also known as silverleaf cotoneaster, is a woody shrub native to south central China. It has been introduced to other parts of the world as an ornamental plant, including southern Africa and Australia. While it has become naturalized in some areas, it is considered a troublesome noxious weed in others, such as Hawaii. This sprawling shrub can reach over 3 meters in height and has dull green leaves with fuzzy white undersides. It produces white flowers and red-orange fruits that are attractive to birds, which help disperse its seeds. It typically grows at elevations of 3,280 feet (1,000 m). However, it is considered an invasive species in California and Oregon.
